Mrs. Ira Johnson and Laura Spell spent part of last week with relatives in Winston-Salem. Mrs. D. W. Stephenson of Wash ington, D. C., was guest last week of her cousin, Mrs. iTa Johnson. Mrs. W. A. Price had surgery at Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill last Friday morning. She was scheduled to undergo more sur gery again on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Whitlock spent Thursday in Wilson with their daughter. Mrs. Estelle Upchurch is a patient at Wendell-Zebulon Hos pital. M. M. Veasey had surgery at Wendell-Zebulon Hospital last week. Mrs. Westray Brantley of Siler City spent the weekend with Mr. Brantley. Miss Vivian Nowell, Miss Esther Ivey of Cary and Miss Hilda Mayo of Raleigh left Friday for a week’s trip to New York City. Mrs. Roscoe Nowell and Mrs. Walter Hamilton of Chapel Hill spent part of last week in New York and Baltimore. George Nowell, Albert Woodard and Jim Elliott of Raleigh spent last week at Myrtle Beach. They were joined on Friday by Marshall and Todd Roberts, Jackie Barham and C. E. Todd, Jr. Mrs. Aleen Richardson of Rich ardson’s Beauty Salon and Miss Janie Boykin attended a beauti cians convention in Raleigh last Sunday. Miss Hazel Taylor, Brenda Tay lor and Gail Honeycutt spent last week at Nag’s Head. Mrs. Lewis Liles, Mrs, Joe Ferrell, Mrs. B. C. Roberts, Mrs. Marvin Todd and Carol Roberts attended a party in Raleigh on Thursday night at Mrs. Willis Strickland’s. * Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stott of 'Roanoke, Va., announce the birth of a son, Jeffrey Charles, at Roa noke Hospital last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Hester Stott of Wendell are the proud grandparents. Dr. J. R. Hester returned to Rex Hospital on Sunday. James Raybon is a patient at Rex Hospital, entering last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. James Pearce and Caroline of Greensboro spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Harvey Richardson and Lottie Richardson. Raymond Stott of Patuxent River, Md., is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Stott. Mossey Faison returned last Wednesday from Wendell-Zebu lon Hospital after surgery and is able to be out. The public is hereby advisee that a petition allegedly meetinj the requirements of N.C.G.S. 160 452 pertaining to the extension oi the corporate limits of the Towr of Zebulon has been received by -the Mayor and Board of Com missioners of the Town of Zebu Ion, and a public hearing will be held pursuant to said N.C.G.S 160-452 at 7:30 p.m., Monday night, September 16, 1963, for the purpose of hearing such residents of the area hereinafter described who may allege an error in the said petition and for hearing those residents of the Town of Zebulon who may question the necessity oi extension of the corporate limits to include the following area: Beginning at a point on the north side of Judd Street (said point being at the southwest corner of the portion of the Wake Ion School property located with in the Town of Zebulon as of the first day of August, 1963), and runs thence North 3 degrees 2C minutes East 720.0 feet; runs thence North 20 degrees 40 min utes West 442.0 feet to a stake ir Bell’s line; runs thence North 84 degrees 05 minutes West 60.0 feei to a position on the west side oi a street shown on map of Wakelor School property by C, W. Russum R.L.S., dated March 10, 1956; runs thence with the west side of saic street South 4 degrees 45 minutes West 720.0 ffet; South 23 degrees 17 minutes East 224.6 feet, South 01 degree 27 minutes East 10C feet, and South 23 degrees 40 min utes East 223.0 feet to a point or the north side of Judd Street; runs thence with the north side of Jude Street North 63 degrees 20 min utes East 247.0 feet to the poinl of beginning, containing 6.5 acres more or less. Rhodes The quilting ladies of Wakefield Baptist Church presented the church Sunday with a punch bowl and ladle and curtains for the recreation room. The items were purchased with money derived from selling quilts they made last winter. The Rev. Horace Hamm, pastor, presented the gifts to Joe Alford, chairman of the Board of Deacons. Mr. Alford thanked them gra ciously. Thirteen of the women sat in a body at the front of the church far the presentation. Our pastor’s family thanks each one for the kindness shown while his wife was at Rex Hospital last week. She is home now and much better. Mrs. Bessie Hamm, mother of the Rev. Mr. Hamm, left Friday for her home in South Carolina. Three deacons were elected Sunday night for the Board. They are B. E. Strickland, Claude Baker and Wayne Boykin. Mrs. Pink Williams is at Wake Memorial Hospital. She is im proving. Mr. and Mrs. T. Y. Puryear, Jr., announce the birth of a girl, Fri day p.m. at Wendell-Zebulon Hos pital. Mrs. Annie Strickland has a broken leg and is there also. Mrs. Ruth Perry is still in Rex. Mrs. Wood is very low at Rex. I went to the Pippin-Richardson wedding Sunday p.m. at 4 at Zebulon Baptist Church. It was very pretty. I then went to a picnic supper at Mrs. Bertha Hood’s in honor of her son Charles, who is here on furlough several days. I sure did enjoy it. Labor Day I took off and visited the sick at Rex, Wake Memorial and Wendell-Zebulon hospitals. I was a tired sister when I got home.
